Organist

HELMUTH LUKSCH was born in Kufstein and studied with Kurt Neuhauser and Herbert Tachezi at the Vienna Musikhochschule. He also attended masterclasses taught by A. Heiller, M. Radulescu, A. Röβler and H. Vogel. During his studies he was deputy organist at the Heroic Organ (Heldenorgel) in Kufstein.

He was organist at the City Parish Church (Stadtpfarrkirche) St. Vitus from 1980-1990. From 1990 to 1993 he served as District Cantor (Gebietskantor) for the diocese of Gurk/Klagenfurt, serving also as organist and choir director of the City Parish Church Spittal/Drau from 190-1992. Since 1992 he has served as principal organist (Titularorganist) at the Main City Parish Church St. Egid in Klagenfurt.

He is a member of the Diocesan Commission for Church Music and holds the title of supervisor of organs (Orgelreferent) for the Diocese of Gurk. Since 1989 he has taught at the University for Music and Performing Arts (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst) in Vienna.

Luksch has been widely active as a concert artist in Austria, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, and Slovenia, as well as having radio broadcasts and CD recordings to his credit. He is the composer of works for chorus, organ, and chamber ensembles, as well as the author of articles for music journals.
